WHAT
CAN INTELLIGENT PROBES INTERFACE WITH?
There
are an enormous number of 3rd party manufacturers of equipment
in the market with which intelligent probes can interface
with. It is impossible for Sentek or Peter White Water Management
to become familiar with all existing equipment in the field
and what is currently available. For this reason it is important
to develop relationships and have support from specific 3rd
party integrators.
The
following are the basic grouping for devices (ie "3rd party
equipment") that is currently available to the market or is
established in existing farm infrastructure.
Weatherstation.
This includes dedicated systems designed to measure and record
weather parameters such as wind speed, air temperature, humidity,
etc.
Data
logger. A device that has many inputs that can
be configured to accept various sensors to suit a specific
application. The resultant "system" may be to monitor factory
processes (assembly lines) or even measure weather sensors
(i.e. to form a weather station).
Irrigation
controller.
A dedicated system for the purpose of automating irrigation
practices. Usually the software is targeted at this application.
Programmable
Logic Controller (PLC). A universally programmable
device for monitoring inputs (i.e. sensors, etc) and turning
on/off its outputs (to turn on/off valves, etc). PLCs can
be configured to undertake irrigation control.
Custom
designed systems. Systems
which are either one-off modifications/solutions of readily
available products or are specially assembled/configured to
undertake either logging or control.
